WHat happens?
We'll discuss your situation and how I can help you and your pet on the phone before we arrange for me to visit.
On the day I'll spend some time with you to ensure you know what will happen before, during and afterwards.
I'll make sure both you and your pet are settled and comfortable, with any of your family that wish to be present. I'll take a moment to prepare medications. When you're ready I'll sedate your pet in their bed or your lap etc.

Sedation
I'll administer a sedative, which will slowly and calmly lower your pet's heart rate and respiratory rate bring them gently to sleep, much like an anaesthetic prior to an operation.

End of Life
Once they're comfortable, I'll administer a second drug which will bring their life to an end.
I can stay with you to check their life signs, or leave you alone until they've passed away.

Next Steps
I am happy to help create any fur clippings and similar while I'm with you and can provide these materials included within my service.
When you're ready, I'll either leave your pet in your care, or I can take them with me to the crematorium.
the right time

1
services
The internet has many sources around the matter of, "When is the right time?"
One resource many vets use is the Ohio State University Quality of life Score, which provides some valuable advice and a numerical scoring system to act as one source of information for you.
2
Seek advice
Obvious as it sounds, speak to friends and family. Different people react in different ways in these times; if you're unsure have a chat with people you trust to give an objective view.
My vet mentor once said to me, "It's nice to end on a good day, not because we've run out of road."

Happy to Talk
I'm happy to talk to you about your pet's prognosis. I have many year's veterinary experience to call upon and will gladly provide my unbiased professional opinion.
Good Ends only provides end-of -life care, so I can be objective about outcomes, timelines and options impartially and without bias.
I'm here to help you and your pet.
Final Journey
You may wish to bury your pet at home, or seek burial or cremation from a range of suppliers yourself.
If you prefer, I can take your pet with me when I leave and arrange cremation at a local crematorium in Uttoxeter with whom I work. I charge £40 for this transport, which includes returning their ashes to you.
You will need to arrange the cremation and any additional requirements with Green Pastures, as this is not offered by Good Ends directly.
